Pity My City

WHEN IT COMES TO NEW YORK CITY BASKETBALL, MOST OF US TEND TO GET HEADACHES. A TEAM THAT IN THE EARLY AND EVEN LATE 1990'S WAS CONSIDERED AN EASTERN CONFERENCE CONTENDER HAS BECOME THE LAUGHING STOCK OF THE WHOLE BASKETBALL WORLD. LAST YEAR CRITICS WOULD JOKE AND SAY THAT COLLEGIATE TEAM NORTH CAROLINA COULD BEAT THE KNICKS. TALK ABOUT KICKING A TEAM WHILE THEY'RE DOWN. WITH ALL THIS, THERE ARE RUMORS CIRCULATING THAT THE KNICKS MIGHT RELEASE STEPHON MARBURY, THEIR CHAOTIC POINT GUARD. THE ONLY PROBLEM WITH THAT IS...MARBURY IS IN THE LAST YEAR OF HIS LUCRATIVE CONTRACT IN WHICH MARBURY IS OWED $21.9 MILLION. TALK ABOUT A HEFTY LOAD HUH? THE KNICKS WOULD LIKE TO PUT HIM ON WAIVERS AND BE RID OF HIM BY THE END OF THIS WEEK. IT SUCKS CAUSE I CONSIDERED HIM THE BEST KNICK PLAYER ON THE ROSTER IN TERMS OF RAW TALENT AND HEART. HE HAD SOME CONFRONTATIONS WITH FORMER KNICK COACHES LARRY BROWN AND ISIAH THOMAS WHICH LIMITED HIS GAME TIME. ALL THE KNICKS ARE WAITING FOR IS THE OK FROM MADISON SQUARE GARDEN CHAIRMAN JAMES DOLAN. IF EVERYTHING GOES THE KNICKS WAY, MARBURY WOULD BECOME A FREE AGENT AND WOULD BE FREE TO SIGN WITH ANY TEAM HE DESIRES. RUMORS ARE THAT THE MIAMI HEAT WHO ARE IN NEED OF A POINT GUARD, ARE INTERESTED IN MARBURY. WE WILL JUST HAVE TO WAIT AND SEE.

Back in May when the Knicks had fired Isaiah Thomas and hired Mike D'antoni, Marbury tried to make a good impression and showed up to D'antoni's press conference...the Press was all over him:

SIDE NOTE: THE NEW YORK KNICKS RE-SIGN ALLAN HOUSTON...I HAVE NO THOUGHTS ON THIS..WELL I DO...BUT I DETEST ALLAN HOUSTON AND THINK HE IS A QUITTER AND HAVE NOTHING GOOD TO SAY ABOUT HIM. SO ILL LEAVE IT AT THAT.
