Madison Square Garden, along with the City of New York has been known as the mecca of Basketball. Michael Jordan was born in Brooklyn, some of the best players that ever laced up their sneakers played their hearts out when they were in NYC. It's no wonder why every time something huge happens at the Knicks Arena, it is that much bigger just because of the location. Before tonight, the record at MSG for most points ever scored by an opponent was held by Michael Jordan with 55 points.

Well, tonight when the Lakers took on the Knicks, all of that changed. Kobe went on a tear, shooting 19-31 field goals, 3-6 from 3 point land, shot 20-20 from the free throw line and dropped in a record 61 points at the Worlds Most Famous Arena. This coming a day after the Lake Show found out that they had lost Andrew Bynum for 8-12 weeks due to a MCL tear in his knee.

The Knicks didn't play bad, they had 6 players in Double Figures, Al Harrington Led the way with 24 points while the Double Double machine, David Lee added 22 points and12 boards. Pau Gasol who moved to the center spot, threw in 31 points and 14 rebounds to help the Lakers take a win at the garden by defeating the Knicks 126-117. The Lakers shot about 48% from three point land shooting 7-16. It was a beautiful day in the world of Basketball. Lets Go Lakers!!!
