Remember when the sky was blue, the grass green and the black sky was filled with white stars?
Well I remember when you'd hit me with your belt for stupid reasons, and I'd run my fingers over the new scars.
Remember how I would love to go to school, hang with my friends and draw for now apparent reason?
Well I remember when I'd get yelled at, pushed around and get ready for my beaten'.
Do you remember when you'd take me to the park, teach me how to catch, how to shoot and how to dream?
Cause I remember when I'd get grounded, embarrased..It's funny how bad life seemed.

Do you remember how you would give me "good" advice and tell me to study more and play less games?
No, I don't remember it either, but I do recall your violent outbursts, negative thoughts and ignorant ways.

Did you think that maybe I would be just like you?

Yeah, I didnt think so, maybe that's because it's not on my list of things to do.

You may have wounded me physically, mentally and Emotionally to the point of no return..
But dont worry, cause I'm going to be a great dad, your run is over, now its my turn.

Yo son, this was heartfelt. It's beyond a poem, this shit was a true-life experience. I never truly had a father figure in my life. I'm known to society as a bastard, like Mariam, of A Thousand Splendid Suns, a harami, a child born out of wedlock. That was deep my dude. Yes, I truly believe we will both be the father figures our fathers never were.
