Doernbecher 9's

The Doernbecher Children's Hospital is Located in Portland, Oregon. The Nike Headquarters are also there. For a few years now, Nike and Jordan have teamed up to collaborate sneakers adequately named "Doernbecher". These are a few of the past releases:

Above you can see pairs of the Air Jordan 1's , 2's , 3's, 4's and 7's. All Which were designed by kids with rare conditions. Some people may look at sneakers and buy them because they look good or even because of the hype. It annoys me that most kids nowadays just get Jordan's to show off. Not too many know the history behind the pair or the story behind a limited release. Sad. Anyway, before I get off topic, this new Doernbecher Pair is set to release on November 30th and it comes from our little friend, Oswaldo Jimenez. He also goes by the nickname "Pollito" which means "Little Chicken". He has a rare Pulmonary Condition and he got his chance to help design the Air Jordan 9's seen below:

The sneaker features white and black features with what seems like a "gold" laser design along the side and heel. With his Lucky number and Birth day stitched amongst the sneaker, it also shows off his nickname on the tongue.

Hopefully Oswaldo keeps doing well and has a bright future ahead of him as he and Nike bring us yet another limited and this time, not too over the top pair of "Doernbecher" 9's.
